Urovalve Strengthens Scientific Advisory Board

Vince De Caprio, PhD
Urovalve, Inc. is pleased to announce that Vincent De Caprio, formerly president, CEO and vice chairman of Vyteris, Inc., has joined the Scientific Advisory Board of Urovalve, Inc. Dr. De Caprio joined Vyteris from BD, a leading medical technology company, where he served most recently as senior vice president and general manager of Advanced Drug Delivery. Prior positions at BD included senior vice president and chief technology officer, sector president for technique products and president of the worldwide vascular access business. He holds a BSEE degree from Newark College of Engineering (currently, New Jersey Institute of Technology) and MS and Ph.D. degrees in bioengineering from the Polytechnic Institute of New York (currently, Polytechnic University). Vince also is a member of the Board of Trustees of New Jersey Institute of Technology and served on the industrial advisory boards of MIT’s Center for Biomedical Engineering, John Hopkins University Bioengineering Department and the Georgia Institute of Technology’s Petit Institute. He has served as chairman of the Governor’s Council on Science and Technology for the State of Utah and has spoken at numerous conferences on topics such as the management of innovation and health care industry and technology trends.
Bill Van Buskirk, PhD
Urovalve, Inc. is pleased to announce that William C. Van Buskirk, Ph.D., P.E., Acting Chair and Distinguished Professor of Mechanical Engineering, New Jersey Institute of Technology, has joined the Scientific Advisory Board of Urovalve, Inc. Professor Van Buskirk has previously served as Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at NJIT and Dean of Tulane University School of Engineering. He has received numerous awards and honors, is a Fellow of the Biomedical Engineering Society and the American Institute of Medical and Biomedical Engineering, and has published more than 50 articles in leading scientific and engineering journals and books.
Joseph V. Di Trolio, MD
Dr. DiTrolio is a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery and Director of Endourology and Endourological Research in the Section of Urology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ)/ New Jersey Medical School in Newark. Dr. DiTrolio earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Richmond, Virginia, his M.D. at UMDNJ/New Jersey Medical School and completed his internship and residency at UMDNJ/ New Jersey Medical School. Dr. DiTrolio is a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology. He has been developing urological equipment for the past fifteen years, ranging from ureteroscopes to resectoscopes and is one of the pioneers of cryosurgery, the developer of modern prostatic chemoablation, and tissue welding with the Argon Laser. He is recognized world-wide as an inventor, researcher and lecturer and is the recipient of numerous awards and citations.
Michael Siroky, MD
Dr. Siroky is Professor of Urology, Boston University School of Medicine and Chief of Urology, Boston VA Healthcare System. He is the author of more than 100 articles in peer reviewed journals, more than 75 chapters, monographs and reviews, and editor of 9 books concerning urology. Dr. Siroky received his MD from Boston University and has trained at Boston University School of Medicine, Harvard Medical School and Albert Einstein Medical College.
Rafael S. Wurzel, MD
Rafael S. Wurzel, MD is a co-founder of Urovalve, Inc. He serves as Chief of Urology at New Britain General Hospital and as a Urologic Consultant, Hospital for Special Care, New Britain, CT. With the staff of the Hospital for Special Care he has developed the hospital’s standard for management of catheterized patients. Dr. Wurzel has extensive experience with spinal cord injuries and neuromuscular disorders. He holds a BA from Brandeis University, an M.D. from the Autonomous University of Madrid and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Urology.
Carl H. Jacobs, PhD
Carl Jacobs, PhD. is an advisor to the Company on manufacturing and operational issues. He is a senior medical device industry leader with a proven track record of successfully directing manufacturing operations, research, development and technology transfer for several major organizations. Dr. Jacobs most recently served as Vice, President of Operations and Engineering and Managing Director, Bioplex Medical, B.V, Vaals, The Netherlands for Datascope Corp. He previously held senior positions in Quality Assurance, Manufacturing Operations and Research wit a number of medical device companies in the US. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from University of VT.
